Information You Enter
Search Terms
When a visitor types a name, location, or other query into a third-party search tool, that query is sent to the provider that operates the tool. Greene County Inmate Population does not keep its own log of those search terms.
Messages
If a visitor sends an email or other contact message, the submitted information may be kept long enough to read, route, and respond to the message. It is not shared outside the organization unless a legal requirement applies.
Technical Information Collected Automatically
Basic technical data may be recorded when pages load or site features are used. That data can include:
- IP address.
- Browser name and version.
- Device type and operating system.
- Pages viewed and time spent on pages.
- The referring website, when one is available.
- Date and time stamps.
Cookies
Cookies and similar tools may be used to understand site use, improve performance, support ads, and remember limited settings. Browser controls can block or delete cookies, although some features may work differently after cookies are blocked.
How the Information Is Used
- Keep pages available, stable, and reasonably fast.
- Send search requests to the partner service selected by the visitor.
- Understand which Greene County jail, court, and locator pages are useful.
- Find broken pages, display problems, and other technical issues.
- Display advertising that may be more relevant to a visitor's interests.
Other Websites and Tools
This site links to sheriff pages, county offices, Illinois court and corrections resources, VINELink, federal locators, and outside search tools. After a visitor follows an outbound link, the destination site's privacy policy and data practices control.
Advertising partners may use their own systems to measure activity across websites and personalize ads. That tracking is handled on their platforms, not as official Greene County or Illinois government activity.
Who May Receive Information
Personal information is not sold. It may be handled by limited service providers or disclosed in the situations below:
- Search partners that process a submitted lookup.
- Analytics providers that measure traffic and performance.
- Advertising networks that serve or measure ads.
- Law enforcement, courts, or government bodies when a valid legal order requires disclosure.
Security
Reasonable security practices are used for site operations, but no internet-connected website can be guaranteed breach-proof. Visitors should avoid sending sensitive personal details that are not needed for a basic site question.
Adults Only
The site is intended for adults. It does not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If a minor has submitted information, a deletion request can be sent through the contact route.
Your Choices and Rights
- Ask for a copy of personal information held by the site.
- Request correction of inaccurate information.
- Request deletion where retention is not legally or operationally required.
- Opt out of certain processing where applicable law provides that right.
Policy Changes
This privacy notice may be updated from time to time. Changes take effect when the revised notice is posted on this page with the new effective version.
